He was actually a she... an old lady.... the ‘not a very good driver’ kind.
Thankfully the wind closed the trunk on its own once she got up to speed after turning left (with no signal).

‘They’
was actually a she... an old lady.... the ‘not a very good driver’ kind.
Thankfully the wind closed the trunk on its own once she got up to speed after turning left (with no signal).
And watching how she drove (normal speeds, no-signal lane changes and steering inputs that looked a bit erratic), I can completely understand how that particular driver might not realize.

So, like my grandmother then? She crashed her car on the way to the airport to fly north for Christmas, and my uncle had to fly back down to help her find it, because she wasn't sure where it was towed to.

It is clearly time for them to stop driving. I hate that we live in a country that throws old people to the wolves.

This is why I’m all for physical tests to be performed every 2-5 years for anyone who wants a driver’s license. I’d your hearing, sight, reaction times, reasoning ability, and heart condition don’t pass you don’t get a license anymore.
Most states have inspections for car safety, but completely ignore checking to make sure the driver is safe. Nope just pass an easy test at 16 and you’re good till your family has to pry the keys out of your almost cold dead hands.

One time some one left my passenger side door open and I didnt feel like getting out to close it, or I just drove forward a bit quick and it shut.
Maybe they were just the same kind of lazy. Lol

She later got back home to tell her husband that some mexican must have hit her because there was a big noise while driving. Thankfully no damage.

The first part of your second part is not correct. Here’s a map:
Only the dark blue and a dark blue striped states have regular safety inspections (setting aside how weak some of those inspections are, I’m looking at you Texas). The yellow states have emissions testing at least in some areas.
But yeah we need to have some sort of ongoing certification for licenses. That might involve resting at every renewal, though perhaps we could use our ever increasing collection of traffic cams to actively identify who needs retraining, saving other people hassle. Regardless, if you want tougher driver standards, and you should, you need to make the DMV work more smoothly you should be able to sign up for a convenient testing appointment online (never having to wait more than 3 days to do so), go there and take the test with a minimal wait. Better service would be more expensive, but honestly charging more to provide good service would be well worth it. If you are concerned about the impact on the poor, make the fee proportional to income so one rich person getting a renewal can subsidize a bunch of poor people.

No, my mother in law drives an SRX. No way there is more than one person in the world who would say that.
